Q: My employer supports the United Way but I would like to direct my charitable contribution to CHIP. Can this be done?

If you have ever been hospitalized for a prolonged period of time or have had family or friends who have, then you probably know how difficult it can be without a connection to the outside world. After visiting hours are over and the doctors and nurses have looked in on you, what do you do if you don’t have access to or cannot afford a TV, computer or phone? That’s where the group “Communities Helping Individual Patients” comes in. “Chip” enhances the lives of hospital patients and their families by paying the access fees to TV, in-hospital phone, and long distance calling.
